Halloween

I really like this halloween make-up it appeals to me because even though it is a zombie it's also scary and glamourous at the same time with the eyes and lips.

I find this halloween make-up pretty unique also. I like the half human/half skeleton idea, so if your a girl on halloween who still wants her costume to be slightly glam this is a perfect idea.

As part of class in college we learned how to do witches for halloween, these are photos of some of the work that was produced.

Shed Media

Shed Medias focus is on delivering world class drama from our Scottish base.  They were recently asked by the BBC to produce ‘Young James’ based on the diaries of James Herriot.

They had an online drama project which was Waterloo Road Reunited. This is currently being filmed locally in Greenock. During its run Waterloo Road Reunited was the most popular blog on the BBC, this reflects Shed Media Scotland’s commitment to creating successful entertainment brands within digital media.

Impractical Jokers is another project of Shed Media  which has just aired on BBC 3. This is a comedy filmed in Glasgow it first was hugely popular in the U.S. It is a hidden camera show where the four presenters who are four comedians competing with each other to carry out crazy dares and awkward challenges.

Theatre

In the Kings Theatre in Glasgow they are showing the Ladyboys of Bangkok. The show involves comedy, cabaret and carnival with 16 of the world’s most entrancing beauties. Perfect makeup, stunning costumes and fabulous choreography. I would love to work on a show like this doing all the flamboyant and bold makeup.

The last show I went to see was Fame. It was great and exciting, the makeup was retro and bold. I would love to work on a production like this. The style is something i admire as i have always loved the 80's. The big hair, flamboyant makeup and bold colourful clothes inspires me to work in theatre on a show like this.

Make-Up in Films

I love the makeup in Black Swan, I like how it is sinister yet still graceful which is not the stereotypical ballet dancer look.
The red eyes also show that she is not a innocent ballet dancer.

To create the character Mystique from x-men the actress had to sit for eight to nine hours to be made into her character. Involving nearly 100 individual prosthetics cover 60% of her body, plus blue bodypaint on rest and contact lenses. This is the first time a character has worn nothing but prosthetics for a movie role.

The make-up in burlesque is very classy yet bold. Its all about the eyes and lips to make the face stand out.

The hulk is mainly computer animated due to his build and and size. However the character still needs make-up, it is mainly green body paint and grease paint to create shadows.

Course.

My expectations when starting the NQ Media Makeup Course were high as it was something I was very interested in and knew I would enjoy. Now that I am 7 weeks into the course my expectations are still very high and im sure they will continue to grow as the course progresses.
My initial thoughts on James Watt College and my course was very positive the campus is very modern and clean and the people and lectures are very friendly. I enjoyed the course from the 1st day I started and as the course is progressing and I am expanding my skills and learning new things I am enjoying the course more and more everyday.
The funniest moment of college so far is lunch times with the girls in my class and the banter on the train home.
The most interesting thing I have learned in college so far is in special effects class when we learn to do cuts, bruises and scars. It amazes me how realistic it can look.
My makeup idol is Lady Gaga she has such flamboyant and diverse makeup but when she is off stage her make up is classy and and can be rather subtle.
I want to be a Makeup Artist because it is something I have worn and had a passion for from a young age, when I was a figure skater and dancer I used to love doing my makeup bright and bold. I feel that this course will give me the skills I need to enter the industry and be a sucessful Makeup Artist.

My Make-Up Blog

I study NQ Media Make-Up at James Watt College in Greenock. I would love a future career in theatrical make-up working on big stage productions such as Chicago or the Lion King. People that have inspired me to do make up artistry are Lady Gaga because of her flamboyant and diverse contributions to fashion and make-up, also Audrey Hepburn for her boyish andsubtle make-up which had made her the icon she is today.
